News and Events

The City of Onalaska recently completed an intense 3-day planning event for the Great River Landing (Onalaska's waterfront) that culminated in a final design for both the community and visitors to enjoy in the future!

The City had great participation from Onalaska's residents including round table exercises, public meetings, interviews, and drop-ins from interested community members. The end result is a final schematic design that the City's consultant, S.E.H. will work with to prepare initial construction documents to allow the City to BUILD the Great River Landing!

The City's Waterfront Committee and Community Development Authority (CDA) both unanimously recommended the final schematic design to the Common Council.

On November 11, 2014, the Common Council unanimously approved the schematic design of the Great River Landing.

Moving forward, the City's Consultant will continue to complete 30 % engineering design plans for the first phase of the project. The 30 % design with revised cost estimates will be reviewed by the Waterfront Committee and CDA (likely in December) and by the Common Council (likely in January 2015).
